The main sources for the episode included:

- Gerard Jones, Men of Tomorrow – Geeks, Gangsters and the Birth of the Comic Book (2004, Basic Books)
- Dennis Dooley, “The Men of Tomorrow and the Boys of Yesterday” in Superman at Fifty! The Persistence of a Legend (Dennis Dooley and Gary Engle, editors – 1988, Collier Books)
- Jerry Siegel, Creation of a Superhero (unpublished autobiography, circa 1980)
- Henry Mietkiewicz, “Great Krypton! Superman was the Star’s ace reporter” (Toronto Star, April 26, 1992)
- Shel Dorf, interview with Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, published in Siegel and Shuster: Dateline 1930s (Eclipse Comics, 1984)

Other notes:
Most of the letters of comment to Science Fiction fanzines were found in Brad Ricca’s Super Boys, while the Glenville Torch and Science Fiction articles came from my own research online.
After I wrote and recorded this episode, Author Daniel Best started an amazing bibliography of Jerry Siegel on his Substack, and he found practically all of Siegel’s juvenilia in the process. Here’s 1926-1929 and 1930-1934. You might have to pay for this, but it’s worth it.
If you really want to read it, Hugo Gernback’s 1911 serialized novel Ralph 124C 41+ : a romance of the year 2660 is available at the Internet Archive.
Because the internet is nifty, there’s a guy who did a YouTube video about making a Hectograph like Jerry Siegel did for his lost fanzine Cosmic Stories.
