In 1933, 18-year-old Jerry Siegel wrote the story “The Reign of the Super-Man” for his fanzine Science Fiction. His high school friend Joe Shuster illustrated it. The story of a destitute who, after being experimented upon and given incredible mental powers, becomes a malevolent force before suddenly losing his abilities. The name, though, would inspire Jerry Siegel to try it again… this time in comics.
